What a print club is, and how to join one.
- What is a print club?
- A print club is an independent studio or collective that releases limited-edition prints - risograph, letterpress, screenprint, or zines - to its members on a recurring basis. Joining usually means a subscription or membership, so new editions arrive throughout the year, often alongside members-only drops, events, and access to the studio's community.
- How do print club memberships work?
- Most clubs run on a subscription you set up directly with the studio: you choose a plan and receive new prints at a set cadence - monthly, quarterly, or per drop. Some clubs are open to anyone, while others are application-only or invite-only. Print Club Society links you straight to each club so you subscribe with them, not through a middleman.
- How much does it cost to join a print club?
- Pricing is set by each club, not by Print Club Society. Memberships are usually billed monthly, quarterly, or annually, and many studios also sell one-off editions. Every club listing shows that studio's own prices and billing options so you can compare before you subscribe.
- What's the difference between risograph, letterpress, and screenprint?
- Risograph uses a stencil-based duplicator for bold, layered, low-cost color that suits zines and art prints. Letterpress presses inked type or plates into thick paper for a tactile, debossed finish. Screenprint (silkscreen) pushes ink through a fine mesh for vivid, hard-wearing prints on paper or fabric. Some clubs specialize in one method; others work across all three.
- How do I join a print club?
- Browse the directory, open a club whose work you love, and follow the link to subscribe or apply on the studio's own site. Some clubs welcome members year-round; others open in seasons or by invitation. You can also join remote, mail-based clubs that ship editions worldwide.
- How do I get my print club listed in the directory?
- Independent clubs can submit through our plans page. Free listings are reviewed by an editor; Pro and Studio tiers add featured placement, analytics, and a do-follow link back to your site. We admit a handful of new clubs each season.
